DEFINITION OF THE DREAD DISEASE -

27.  PARKINSON'S DISEASE

Slowly progressive degenerative disease of the central nervous system as a result of loss of pigment containing neurones of the brain (substantia nigra).  The unequivocal diagnosis of Parkinson's Disease must be confirmed by a consultant neurologist registered in Malaysia/Singapore, acceptable to the Company, where the condition:

1. cannot be controlled with medication; and

2. shows signs of progressive impairment.

Only idiopathic Parkinson's Disease is covered.  Drug-induced or toxic causes of Parkinsonism are EXCLUDED.
